He came to the earth to be born as a baby. I wasn’t even born yet. I wouldn’t be born until almost 2000 years later. Millions of people would be born after His birth, yet He came for us, all of us.
He was born in a barn, surrounded by dirty, stinking animals. I was born in a hospital, with clean white sheets and no animals around whatsoever.
He was laid in a manager-a feeding trough where animals feed. I was laid in a crisp clean bassinet that was sterilized.
Family knew of my birth. Thousands of angels announced His.
My mother received some blankets and baby clothes. He received gold, frankincense and myrrh. He would be a King – gold. He would be a priest – frankincense. And He would die – myrrh.
I don’t know when I will die. He came for the sole purpose to die, for my sins and yours.
I’m grew up comfortable. He grew up poor.
I grew up to raise a family of my own. He grew up to declare He had no where to lay His head.
His own people would reject Him. His friends would deny Him. Another would betray Him. The religious elite would declare Him a blasphemer.
Yet He came for all of them. He came for me. All of us, sinners, who have no hope apart from Him. He came for us all.
He came to give us life. He gave up His, so that we would have life.
And then He did just what He said He would do. He let them crucify Him on a cross. He died just as He said He would.
Then, He rose from the dead. Now He is our Savior.
I celebrate His birth for He came for me. He came for you. Merry Christmas!
