Happy New Year! I’m glad to see 2018 go away. I don’t think I have ever thought that about a year. But 2018 really hasn’t been my favorite year, for many reasons. I also found out I was not alone in these feelings. I noticed quite a few people saying they were grateful 2018 was gone. Here’s to a new year, 2019.
A long time ago, right after I got engaged to my husband, the enemy sent someone to tempt me. My husband and I were engaged to be married. Two Christians about to enter into the holy union of marriage. We would commit ourselves to God and, hopefully, have children which we would bring up in the admonition of the Lord. Do you think Satan wants that to happen? Of course not!
Right after we got engaged, a new guy started working at the place I was working. He was tall and good looking. AND he seemed to be drawn to me. He asked me out. I said I was engaged. He complimented me. He liked that I was tall too. He wondered if I played basketball. Yes, I did. He wanted to play one on one at some point. I said no. I told him I was engaged. He said that would be no problem. It was just a harmless little one on one. I said no, again. He wouldn’t leave me alone and he kept paying me attention and complimenting me. I soon left that job and him too.
Just a few months before we got married, a friend of my husband’s pulled my husband aside to warn him of a girl that really liked my husband. She also worked at the same place my husband did and I guess she really had eyes for my husband. This friend felt she was a threat to our impending marriage and wanted my husband to be really, really careful. She did the same thing to my husband: paid him compliments, paid him a lot of attention, and was furiously desperate to get my hubby’s attention. Needless to say, she didn’t.
Why am I talking about these things as a New Year’s post? We’re in a new year. The enemy is always searching for who he can attack. He’s a roaring lion seeking whom he can destroy. As my friend says: “Satan hates you and has a terrible plan for your life.”
If you are a believer, be prepared. As you enter this new year, keep awake. The enemy is GOING to come at you. He wants to destroy all believer’s testimonies and make them immobile. He can’t take your soul, but he will do everything he can to neutralize the believer.
And what we need to be careful of, is that he comes as an angel of light. He’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing. He doesn’t come dressed all in red, with horns and a pitchfork. He comes, looking good and complimentary. He’s a smooth talker. Whoever he sends in to disrupt your life will say really nice things to you. They will be good looking.
We are in the end of days and the last thing the enemy wants is to have us all keep our testimonies and commitment to God. He wants us to stumble and fall. So be aware friend. Stay awake. Be careful. Stay close to God. Because God does love you and has a wonderful plan for your life.
