Ask Him

Our country seems to have run off the rails. Cities are burning. People are rioting. We’re still under lockdown. We seem to have lost our ever-loving minds.

Even though it seems like the world is ending, God is still on the throne. He hasn’t turned a blind eye to everything that’s going on. He is still here. We just need to call on Him.

James 4:2 “…You do not have because you do not ask.”

Last night my brother-in-law was called to the mall where he works as a head of security. He took my 6′ 6″ nephew to help him. The police department where they live said there was word on the street that rioting and looting was going to take place at the mall. Five police cars were already there, when my brother-in-law arrived. The mall was locked down, but that didn’t mean anything. We’ve seen in other cities the major damage caused by the rioters. Businesses were burning and stores were looted.

My sister called me and asked me to pray. She called my mom to do the same. We began to pray in earnest for protection. Protection for the police department. Protection for my brother-in-law and nephew. I prayed that God would intervene and prevent the rioters from destroying the mall. I asked Him to send his angels to stand in front of the mall to guard it. I didn’t know my sister and mom were praying for the exact same thing.

It began. About 9 p.m., a car drove up to the mall. They were several people in the car. They drove up and stopped. They looked around, but no one got out of the car. Another car drove up with more people in their car. No one got out of that car either. After about 10 minutes, the cars drove away. It was as if they were afraid to get out of the car.

This continued until 1:00 a.m. Cars would drive up to the mall with a load of people. They would stop, but no one would get out of their cars. After a few minutes, they drove away.

The enemy didn’t win last night. No one rioted or looted the mall. God intervened. The cops were there, but that hasn’t stopped rioters in other cities. In fact, some cops have been injured. I like to think those cars that drove up were stopped by Almighty God. Whether they saw a band of angels standing before the mall or just heard a voice to not go in. Either way, God was there. He stopped them.

God answers prayers. He asks us to pray. Pray for everything. Pray for the big things, Pray for the little things. Right now, all believers need to pray. We are helpless against the governors and mayors who seem to make decisions based on a power grab rather than actual data. We stand helpless, while we see cities burn, on the news. There seems to be nothing we can do.

But there is something we can do. We can petition the Creator of the world. We can ask the One, who even the winds and seas obey Him to help us. We can cry out to Him. We need to cry out to Him. We need to ask for His help. And He will intervene. He always does.
