How big is your God believer? If you are facing problems, which we all do, how big is God? Is the problem big? Or, is your God big?
When I walked through the waiting time, I had to reread scripture to remind me how big God is. The enemy is always after us, as Believers. He will never let us go. He will never stop trying to bring harm to us. It’s what he does.
We, as Believers, have to really be careful to make sure what we think, actually align with scripture. That’s why God gave us His Word. In it, we read who God is, how God operates and how big He truly is. It’s easy to get trapped in the enemy’s lies. The enemy couches the lies into something that sounds remotely like truth. If we are feeling down about ourselves, the enemy will capitalize on that, and remind us why we should in fact feel badly. If we have doubts about God’s love for us, the same thing, the enemy will come in and confirm those doubts. That’s why it’s vitally important to stay in the Word.
So, going back to my original question, how big is your God? Is the problem you’re facing much bigger than God can handle? Is the problem person you are dealing with, much stronger than what God can do? How big is your God?
The true God, the God of scripture is unimaginably powerful. Here’s a glimpse of His power. He speaks, and the winds and seas obey Him. Have you ever been in a really loud scary storm? Have you heard the wind pound on your windows, where it sounds as if they will break? Have you been on a boat, when winds come up and toss the boat around like it’s a toy?
When I was younger, I spent my summers subsistence fishing. We would put out our net, catch a load of salmon, then pull the net in. The current in Bristol Bay, where I grew up, could be really powerful. Many times, when we tried to pull our net in against the current, it felt like we were pulling against an invisible giant who was pulling the opposite direction. It would take 7-10 of us, pulling with all of our might, and we could barely bring the net in. The rope would actually shake with the struggle between the two forces.
And yet God speaks, and winds and the sea obey Him. The mountains are His feet. He is the One who walks on water. He made the blind to see. He made the lame walk. He rose from the dead. He is the One who created the sea with all of its might and power.
So I ask you again, how big is your God? If you are going through trials and tribulations, what do you believe about God? If you’ve forgotten, go to scripture and remind yourself. Remember who God is. In the face of the living God, your problem will shrink down. So remind yourself how big God is. Trust me, it will sooth your mind.
